TODAY: The Strongest Mom in the Circus

Duo Fusion performs their original hand-balancing act in the Big Apple Circus in early 2019. New parents, Virginia Tuells and her husband Giovanni Perez, talk about raising their daughter Sofia within the circus community. Virginia reflects on how giving birth to her daughter made getting back to the act an arduous process. As the Producer and Cinematographer on this project, I wanted the visuals to speak to the beauty and challenge of using your body for a job and what it takes to continue doing what you love after a dramatic physical change. The piece is an intimate look at a woman’s physical and mental strength.
